Plumbing Service FAQs
Got plumbing problems at home? Well, you can’t just sit there and wait for the issue to be solved by itself. Any plumbing issue in the house if left unattended could be a cause of bigger trouble in the future. If you are planning to sell the property, one of the things that you should include in the home improvement list is its plumbing aspect.
Before you sign the contract and pay hard earned cash, here are some of the questions that you needed to be answered by the plumber in the local area:
Is your service licensed?
Do not forget to ask this important question. While it is true that not all states require its plumbers, as a homeowner it is always safe to go with the ones that have been regulated by the state’s commission. If you hire a plumber who is not licensed, you are risking the quality of his work.
Can you give a total cost quotation?
According to experts, when getting a quotation from the providers, it should be free. When getting the cost estimate, make sure that the agent comes to your house and check the status of the plumbing issues. Do not get an estimate through phone because there is a possibility that the estimate will not be honored by the provider as more add ons will be injected later on. The importance of getting an estimate is it will give you an idea how much to spend for the whole project.
Do you have options for flat or hourly rate?
If the job is simple, there is no need for you to get a flat rate. But there are cases wherein the job is too extensive that it will even take days or weeks to finish. Longer jobs need to be in flat rate so you can save cash. Shorter ones should fall into the hourly rate.
How do you pay for the service?
This is an important question that needs to be addressed. There are cases wherein the contractor is asking for full payment right before the job has been finished. It is always preferable to you if you only settle 20% of the payment during the contract signing, additional 20% if the job is almost finished and full payment if there is a complete turnover. Most of all, settle the bill using a credit card. With credit card payment, you can dispute the amount if you found out that the job is not well done as promised.
Are all the workers from the same company?
If you want the job to be fully organized, the best thing to ask is if the company’s workers are colleagues or not. There are cases wherein the company is hiring some independent contractors represent for the company. The last thing that should stress you is the company sent untrained independent contractors to handle your plumbing issues.
Do you offer warranties?
Before signing the contract, ask for job warranties. If there are still some issues after the first attempt to fix the whole thing, it is important that the company honors its promise. They should go back and recheck the whole system and if its needs second shot fixes.
As a homeowner, it is your right to always ask questions. There are so many bad things that could happen in the service if you were not able to secure confidence from the provider or the technician. The abovementioned questions are some of the samples that you can ask a provider. If you need genuine reviews, call the previous customers of a certain plumbing firm.
